Birth at the Birth Center

We respect and believe in you and your desires for birth

Our skilled and compassionate team of Certified Nurse Midwives and birth assistants bring safety, care, and birth wisdom to help you labor, birth, and welcome your baby your way

We currently only offer planned home birth.

We are working hard to have birth inside our center. We are seeking a transfer agreement with a partnering hospital.

A different type of birth for Central Ohio families…

  • Eating and drinking whenever you want during labor

  • freedom and encouragement to move about the birthing suite

  • waterbirth

  • intermittent monitoring with a handheld doppler to keep a listening ear on your baby

  • access to a variety of comfort tools

  • hands on support and cervical exams only when you consent to them

  • Our midwives will come to your home once you are in active labor and will guide you through labor, birth, and the first few hours after birth

  • Our birth assistants are there to support your midwife during the birth and nurture you during the initial postpartum period

  • We welcome and encourage the use of labor & birth doulas!

A wide variety of tools are available to you and your support team at the center…

  • Acupressure

  • Visualization

  • Abdominal breathing

  • Birth balls and peanut balls

  • Birthing stool

  • Music

  • Aromatherapy

  • Movement

  • TENS therapy

  • Vocalization

  • Massage

  • Any combination of these things!

We don’t rush the golden hours after birth at your home

For the first two to four hours after birth, we give space for as much uninterrupted bonding time as possible and we do not separate baby from you, their parents, unless it’s urgent.

We encourage skin-to-skin time (for all parents!) and we do not rush the first latch, allowing baby to lead the way for a relaxed initial breast/chestfeeding experience.

Families are able to rest and eat together and, when ready, the newborn exam is done by your nurse midwife within arms reach of you.
